Grand Teton National Park Day One

We arrived Saturday 8/8 after a long but beautiful drive from Devil’s Tower.

These are Saturday’s driving photos:

We checked in late to Headwaters lodge at the top of the Grand Teton Park. Two of us got showers that night.
The other two got showers Sunday morning (but probably could have gone all week without one🤷‍♀️).🙂
So Monday was a bit of a later start. After some sleep and showers, we got on the road and drove not quite an hour to Jenny Lake. Here we took a Ferry across the lake, and we hiked to  Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point.

But first, there was the walk from where we parked - the parking lots were full.

Then the ferry ride…

Then the hike….

The way up to Inspiration Point felt a little treacherous a times. Though beautiful, we were up pretty high, and the path was more narrow than I was comfortable with for Nora and Hazel. Though we had planned to have no electronic time while here - in part because I thought we wouldn’t have internet, but we do have internet- I bribed Hazel with a movie tonight if she stayed alongside the rock wall. I was a bit nervous. We could have hiked to one more point on the trail, but watching my kids hike up the windy narrow paths up the mountain were a bit more than I could handle😬.

(Some of these photos posted out of order, but will be corrected later)

After our hike, we drove around to some scenic spots and took some more photos.

Then got some dinner, and headed back to the cabin where we played Scrambled Stated of America, and watched part of “Mean Girls.”

When your mom is a vegetarian…

We saw this guy, with many other very friendly chipmunks, along the Jenny Lake trails. We also saw a large black bear up on the trail - we were off the trail, and had just boarded the ferry to head back.
