Last stretch home



Yesterday we drove from Sioux Falls to South Bend, Indiana. We are now on our last stretch home.
Nora’s favorite park was Yellowstone; Hazel’s was Badlands. John Mark’s favorite time was hiking in Badlands. I think that was probably one of my favorite’s, too. Nora and Hazel also thoroughly enjoyed driving the vehicles on Hannape Ranch. 

This trip has been epic. And I think we all are thoroughly exhausted now. Also, these photos of Nora and Hazel were taken yesterday, but I don’t think that matters- they are wearing the same clothes today🙂.

P.S. Oh yea…I can’t leave out the fact that we listened to a lot of Taylor Swift while driving around Badlands, and a lot of XM 10 spot radio plus a bit of Tic Tock radio😬, when driving around the Tetons and Yellowstone. John Mark and I were not the ones who paired the music with the scenery for this part of the trip.

I am having trouble with the packing

I am stuck in the purgatory between thought and action. In my case now, this in-between place is manifesting in my making lists. These are the type lists that are never ending; the type of lists that becomes trees, with many branches; the type of lists that keep going and going…. prolonging my packing. It’s just that two weeks on the road, away from work and home, feels a bit like reckless abandon. And I suppose my list making - as opposed to the act of just throwing two weeks of our lives into suitcases - might be serving to mitigate the discomfort of my perceived recklessness. And might be providing me with some sense of emotional preparation.
