More travel and stops, starting with Walldrug

Our first stop after Badlands: Wall Drug. We made this a quick one. I got some coffee to go, and a bag of Donuts for us all. Nora had a 5cent cup of coffee.

We also got some free water. Hazel got some rocks for her rock collection, and Nora got a couple of gems, too.

Next stop: Mount Rushmore

We came here just to take a group selfie with the guys on the mountain.

And then….

Crazy Horse!

And our last destination of the day….

Devil’s Tower KOA, where we did laundry while Nora and Hazel played on the playground (it was also very windy at this time, and we all had a bunch of dust blown on us), ate a quick dinner (using the propane stove from John Mark’s sister Elizabeth, because it was so windy), and watched an outside viewing of Close Encounters of the Third Kind (which was filmed at Devil’s Tower, which is literally right next to us).

Just behind our KOA cabin

Other things of note for us to remember:  - Fire in Sundance (fire regulations are tightened because of this), where we saw firemen camped in a field along our route, working on putting out the fire. - Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which happens every year at this time. I think we have encountered just as many motorcyclists on our trip as cars and non motorcycle people. - How filthy dirty we all are (now that we’ve had dirt blown all over us, the texture of our hair is much different). Two of us have not had showers in quite awhile, which I gave in to their skipping a shower before our drive here because I thought there would be a pool here. The pool here is not working- is under reconstruction🤷‍♀️. - Is currently (at 9:15AM, Saturday 8/6, 61 degrees here).
